Ankur Suman
An adman by profession for more than 2 decades and a storyteller since perhaps he learnt to speak – is how ANKUR SUMAN likes to describe himself. His Twitter Bio reads: If there is a story, I must tell it; if there’s none, I must create one. Starting his career as a copywriter, he has written hundreds of ad film scripts on some of the leading brands in India like Revital, Relaxo, Suzuki, Valvoline, Nomarks, IndusInd Bank, etc.
Taking his love with scriptwriting to the next level, Ankur has also contributed to the writing of the feature film KAAGAZ – featuring Pankaj Tripathi, directed by Satish Kaushik.
Ankur also has an experience of theatre where he has written, directed, produced and even acted in, several skits and plays – mainly comedies.
He says his theatre experience has equipped him with a better understanding of the audience’s minds – especially when it comes to humour and comedy. Ankur has also made some short films while participating in an international short film making competition – 48 hr Film Project, where one is supposed to submit a film – from writing to finishing – in just 48 hours. He has won Best Writing Awards every time he participated in this competition along with winning Best Film and even Best Actor Awards. Couple of his short films have been screened at multiple short film festivals and also won awards.
Even most of the ad films that Ankur has been involved in are stories rather than being the typical ad films. During the course of his career he has worked with a lot of prominent personalities from the Indian Film Industry including Amitabh Bachchan, Mohanlal, Salman Khan, Mahesh Babu, Farhan Akhtar, Gajraj Rao, Imtiaz Ali, Priyadarshan, Rohan Sippy – to name a few.
